Meridian Massage Therapy
How does it work?
Meridian Massage incorporates the five-element theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine in which the meridians on the body correspond to specific elements -- Wood, Earth, Fire, Water, and Metal -- and are the foundation for the balance of ying and yang. When one or more of these elements is out of balance, sickness and/or emotional imbalance can occur.
This is in accordance to the ancient understanding that the body has twelve main meridians in the body, and each meridian is linked to particular organs. When the passage of Qi through a particular meridian is interrupted in any way, then the organ that is related to that meridian will begin to function improperly.
The Meridian Massage techniques encompass a series of pressing, stroking, stretching, percussive manipulations on along the meridians on acupressure points , to release energy blockages, help restore balance to the body and stimulate the body's natural ability to heal itself. Pressing on these points relieves muscle tension, which promotes the circulation of blood and qi to aid in the healing process.
There are more than 300 acupoints all around the body that are used in Meridian Massage in order to modulate the flow of Qi.
